Nokia Lumia 625 : Hands On Review
The Nokia Lumia 625 is the latest update to the brand's rapidly expanding Lumia family of Windows Phones
Nokia is ramping-up it's Lumia line up with the cheap and cheerful
Nokia Lumia 625. It might have a cheaper price tag at around £200 but
with a 4.7-inch screen and 4G it has the specs to take on the likes of
the HTC One Mini and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.
Nokia Lumia 625: Size and Build
For the price tag, it's welcome that the Nokia Lumia 625 retains the quality feel of the higher-end Nokia Lumia 925.
The curved edges remain and measuring in at 133.25 x 72.25 x 9.15mm
thin and with a weight of 159g, it's certainly pocket friendly.
Interchangeable covers are back and the Nokia Lumia 625 will land in a
rainbow of colors; orange, yellow, bright green, white and black.
Nokia Lumia 625: Features
4G is the feature that Nokia is shouting about on the Lumia 625 and
this keeps it inline with the HTC One Mini and the Samsung Galaxy S4
Mini. The camera, at five-megapixels back-facing, beats the HTC One Mini
but trails Samsung's Mini at eight-megapixels.
There's also a front-facing VGA quality camera and Nokia's own Smart Camera and Cinemagraph that you'll also find on the Nokia Lumia 1020. Windows Phone 8
is, of course, the OS of choice and there's also Nokia HERE Maps, HERE
Drive and HERE Transit preloaded. There's also Nokia Music for free
streaming music from the off.
Nokia Lumia 625: Screen
Similar to the HTC One Mini and the HTC One, the Nokia Lumia 625 has
the exact same screen specs as it's higher-end Lumia 925. The specs come
in at 4.7-inches WVGA with 201ppi. The only thing missing is Gorilla
Glass so beware of this with bumps and scrapes.
Nokia Lumia 625: Performance
The processor is a step down for the Lumia 925 at 1.2GHZ dual core
but during our play with it, it was by no means sluggish, whizzing
through apps and churning through photos and videos with ease. On to the
memory and it's 512MB RAM with, a frankly pitiful, 8GB onboard but this
is expandable to 64GB with an SD card.
Nokia Lumia 625: Battery
Nokia quotes 15.2 hours of 3G talk time thanks to the 2000mAh battery and again for the price tag it's a decent offering and is the exact same as you'd find on the Lumia 925.Nokia Lumia 625: Verdict
Nokia's certainly ramping up it's Lumia line-up with 12 handsets now
available. The question is does the Nokia Lumia have something different
to offer? It's certainly a decent handset, the size of the screen at
4.7-inches and 4G are welcome additions and makes it able to stand with
the HTC One Mini and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.
We also love the colour options and they certainly make a welcome
change from the sea of grey, white and black. The problem is that there
are so many other Lumias to choose from, it could all get a bit
confusing. We'll, of course, be bringing a more in-depth review of the
625 with a final verdict.
